School vaccines

The Columbia County Health Department will hold a back-to-school immunization walk-in clinic from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday-Aug. 10 at three clinics. For information, call the Evans clinic at (706) 868-3330, the Appling clinic at (706) 541-1318, or the Euchee Creek clinic at (706) 556-3727.

Teams sought

The Augusta Alzheimer's Association is recruiting teams and individuals to participate in Memory Walk 2009, which will be held Nov. 7. The first 50 team captains or walkers to register by today will be invited to the Aug. 7 kickoff luncheon at Carrabba's. For information, call (706) 731-9060 or go to www.alz.org/georgia.

Keep Columbia County Beautiful is offering phonebook recycling bins until Aug. 31 at the Columbia County government center, Reed Creek Park, Blanchard Woods Park, Patriots Park and Blanchard Park. For information, call (706) 312-7195.

School carnival

A community carnival to celebrate the upcoming school year will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. today at Harlem High School. For information, call the school at (706) 556-5980.

Free movie

Columbia County's free Family Movie Matinees continue at 1 p.m. today with Wall-E at the Jabez Sanford Hardin Performing Arts Center at the Columbia County Library. Tickets are distributed at noon. For information, call (706) 312-7192.

Fire meeting

The annual meeting of the Martinez Volunteer Fire Department Inc. will be held at Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue headquarters, 3910 Desoto Drive, Martinez, at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Friendship club

The German Friendship Club will hold a general membership meeting at 7 p.m. today at VFW Post 649, 2430 Windsor Spring Road, Augusta. Newcomers are welcome. For information, call (803) 279-8493.
